Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents particularly, the second respondent to take immediate action for the renewal and revalidation of the Affin Bank Cheque bearing No.004048 dated 03.03.2020 drawn in favour of the petitioner towards the disbursement of insurance compensation amount handed over to the petitioner on 19.08.2020 within a time frame as fixed by this Court. For Petitioner : Mr.B.Prahalad Ravi For Respondents : Mr.P.Mahendran, Additional Government Pleader.

Heard the learned counsel on either side.
2.While the writ petitioner's husband, namely, Vijayakumar was working in Malaysia, he suffered heart attack and passed away on 07.09.2016. The Government of Malaysia had sent a cheque dated 03.03.2020 in favour of the petitioner. It was for a sum of U.S. Dollars 5,852.06. It appears that the cheque was handed over to the petitioner only on 19.08.2020 by the second respondent. There was some delay in depositing the cheque. In the meanwhile, the cheque had become stale. It has to be re-validated. Therefore, the present Writ Petition has been filed for calling upon the second respondent to take remedial action in this regard. 3.Considering the plight of the petitioner, this Court directed the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents to obtain instructions expeditiously. The second respondent had given written instructions. After receiving the original cheque from the petitioner, further action will be taken. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2
W.P.(MD) No.11793 of 2020 4.Taking note of the facts and circumstances, I direct the petitioner to approach the first respondent in person and hand over the cheque in original on 09.10.2020. The Personal Assistant to District Collector, Thanjavur will receive the cheque from the writ petitioner and give an acknowledgement also. Thereafter, the first respondent will forward the same to the second respondent speedily. The second respondent will take up the matter with the Indian Mission, Malaysia and do everything needful, so that the petitioner is issued with a re-validated cheque. The entire exercise shall be completed by the second respondent, within a period of four (4) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.This Writ Petition is disposed of on these terms. No costs.
