ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner challenging the demand notice issued by the second respondent for payment of rent arrears from the petitioner.
2. Admittedly, the petitioner was a tenant of the Housing Board Quarters and he sent a letter dated 11.03.2019, indicating that he was allotted house during March 2002 and he stayed there till December 2018. When the petitioner approached the authorities for clearance certificate for handing over of the rented property, he was served with an order dated 05.04.2019, directing him to pay a sum of Rs.1,95,215/-, along with water charges for a sum of Rs. 2020/-. This has been impugned in the present Writ Petition.
3. During the pendency of the Writ Petition, the second respondent has reworked the calculations and found that there are some deductions by the Drawing Officer and payment was not properly made. The working sheet, which is now produced before this Court, shows that the petitioner has to pay a sum of Rs.39,085.71/- and the copy of the same is also served on the learned counsel for the petitioner today. The communication of the second respondent dated 23.12.2024 and the working sheet are scanned and extracted hereunder:
4. It is stated by the learned Standing Counsel for the respondents 1 and 2 that the working sheet has already been served on the petitioner and the payment is not yet remitted.
5. Considering the fact that the entire due has been reworked and now a working sheet has been submitted, the petitioner is directed to verify the same and if the same is proper, he is directed to pay the amount. In case the petitioner disputes the remittance from his employer, he is at liberty to file a fresh Writ Petition in this regard.
6. With the above liberty, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
