PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 7 a. to properly survey the damages caused to the Coconut Trees destroyed by the GAJA Cyclonic Storm in Thennangudi and its surrounding villages in Peravurani Taluk, Thanjavur district, b. to sanction compensation of Rs.50,000/- (Fifty Thousand) to every single damaged tree owned by the respective Coconut Farmers Thennangudi and its surrounding villages in Peravurani Taluk, Thanjavur District c. to make out an urgent plant to remove all those innumerable uprooted trees and scientifically dispose the same in a remote place without causing any pollution to the public d. and to issue direction to the respondents 1 to 7 to supply Hybrid coconut seedlings to the Coconut Farmers on free of cost and provide the drip irrigation systems with subsidy to retrieve the life of the aggrieved coconut farmers. (Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) Since the compensation has been settled by the Government, sufficiency of the compensation cannot be adjudicated by the Writ Court. If any other grievance exists to the petitioner, he is at liberty to approach the Government for redressal of the same.
