O R D E R

This Writ Petition is filed for Mandamus seeking for a direction to the third respondent to grant permission and police protection for conducting Kabadi Tournament scheduled to be held on 18.05.2024 from 06.00 P.M., onwards and 19.05.2024 at Kattakoothanpatti Village and Post, Nilakkottai Taluk, Dindigul District, on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 04.05.2024.

2. The petitioner claims to be a Secretary of K.K.P. Sports Club. The said Club is hosting a Kabadi Tournament at the aforementioned place on 18.05.2024 and 19.05.2024. The petitioner seeks permission from the respondents to host the said tournament on the scheduled dates. The petitioner has given a representation on 04.05.2024 to the respondents, requesting for grant of permission. Since the said representation has not 2/6

been considered till date, the petitioner has filed this Writ Petition.

3. It is now represented by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, on instructions, that due to the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and the Code of Conduct being in place, the petitioner will have to approach the Assistant Returning Officer, Madurai.

The learned counsel for the petitioner, on instructions, would submit that the petitioner is willing to approach the Assistant Returning Officer, Dindigul to enable the petitioner to get permission for hosting the Kabadi Tournament and he is ready to change the schedule dates for Kabadi Tournament, if any inconvenience caused.

5. The said submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner is placed on record.

6. No prejudice will be caused to any other parties, if the petitioner is allowed to give a fresh representation to the Assistant Returning Officer, Dindigul, seeking permission to host the Kabadi 3/6

Tournament on the scheduled dates and the Assistant Returning Officer, Dindigul is directed to consider the said representation on merits and in accordance with law within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

For the foregoing reasons, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the petitioner to give a fresh representation to the Assistant Returning Officer, Dindigul, seeking permission to conduct the Kabadi Tournament at Kattakoothanpatti Village and Post, Nilakkottai Taluk, Dindigul District, within a period of three (3) days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of the said representation, the Assistant Returning Officer, Dindigul, is directed to consider the same on merits and in accordance with law and pass final orders, within a period of three (3) days thereafter.
