O R D E R

The petitioner is before this Court seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to assign and collect house tax (theervai) for the petitioner's house property situated in Survey No. 1974/31, Gangaikondan Village, Tirunelveli District, measuring an extent of 1.06 ares (1141.272 sq.ft.), and consequently to provide a drinking water pipeline connection to the petitioner's house.

2. The petitioner claims to be the owner and in possession of the aforesaid property, and the patta also stands in her name. She submitted an application to the respondents seeking assignment and collection of house tax for the said property. The grievance of the petitioner is that the said application has not been considered till date. 2/5

3. Ms. P.B. Ahamed Yasmin Parvin, learned Government Advocate, who accepts notice on behalf of the fifth respondent, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner's application will be considered in accordance with law within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. The said submission is taken on record.

4. In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the fifth respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 04.03.2026 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
