This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction against the respondent/District Collector, Thoothukudi District to dispose of the appeal, which has been filed by the petitioner on 20.08.2021 against the order passed by the second respondent on 10.08.2021.

2.Heard Mr.R.Anandharaj, learned Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.J.Ashok, learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents. 3.Let me not enter into a detailed discussion on the merits of the case, since the appeal is pending and any observations by this Court might play on the mind of the first respondent. It would be suffice to point out that the appeal is now pending on the file of the first respondent for the past one year and eight months. It is only appropriate that orders are passed at the earliest.

4.A direction is given to the first respondent to examine the records and pass necessary orders with reasons on or before 31.08.2023. It 2/4

would effectively meant that he is given time for two years from the date when it was presented for disposal.
