O R D E R

Heard the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the first and second respondents. Considering the nature of relief to be granted in this writ petition, notice to the private respondents is dispensed with.

2.What is under challenge is the notice issued by the Tahsildar, Kumbakonam, calling upon the parties concerned to attend the peace meeting. It is this notice that is impeached. I have consistently taken the view that such peace meetings convened by the revenue authorities are intended to amicably resolve the issues. As such, they are welcome measures. W.P.(MD)No.12249 of 2020 force as such. In other words, the decisions taken in such peace meeting cannot be legally enforced. They cannot be binding on the parties concerned. Therefore, challenge to the impugned notice is not really maintainable.

3.With this observation, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
