Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents herein to grant patta to the petitioner in Survey No.383/8 (Old Survey No.248) situated at Keelakurichi Panchayat, Thiruverumbur Taluk, Thiruchirappalli District by considering his representation dated 05.05.2023 within the time frame fixed by this Court. The petitioner has sought for issuance of Natham Patta based on long possession and enjoyment of an extent of 97 cents.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

3. The petitioner's forefathers have constructed a house and they also enjoyed electricity connection and the petitioner is also paying tax to the Panchayat in his name. The petitioner has sought for issuance of patta in respect of the said lands by making representations on 05.05.2023 and 08.05.2023. The petitioner made further representations on 12.05.2023 and 05.06.2023 to the 2nd respondent on the grievance day. The said representations have been forwarded to the 3rd respondent. The petitioner seeks the said representation, dated 05.05.2023 addressed to the District Collector to be disposed of.

4. The learned Special Government Pleader would submit that the extent in respect of which patta is sought for by the petitioner is 97 cents and the 2/5

competent authority is District Revenue Officer, Tiruchirapalli.

5. In view of the fact that the petitioner has not made an application to the District Revenue Officer, Tiruchirapalli till date, this writ petition is disposed of, giving liberty to the petitioner to make fresh application to the District Revenue Officer, Tiruchirapalli within a period of two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. On receipt of the said application from the petitioner, the District Revenue Officer, Tiruchirapalli is directed to consider the application, on merits and in accordance with law subject to the entitlement to the petitioner, considering the prevailing Rules and Regulations and pass final orders within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of application by the petitioner.

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
