O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representations of the petitioner dated 07.01.2026 and 03.03.2026 and to transfer him from V.S.Sivalingam Government Arts College, Pulankurichi, Sivagangai District to the Government Women's Arts College, Nilakottai, Dindigul District, within the time limit fixed by this Court.

2. The petitioner herein was appointed as a Guest Lecturer in V.S.Sivalingam Government Arts College, Pulankurichi, Sivagangai District, on 01.12.2025, pursuant to the Notification issued by the Director of Collegiate Education. It is the case of the petitioner that while applying for the post of Guest Lecturer, he had given preference for posting in Dindigul District as the first preference, followed by Virudhunagar, Sivangai and Ramanathapuram District. However, despite the vacancies available in Dindigul District at the

time of his appointment on 01.12.2025, the petitioner was posted in Sivagangai District, which is about 270 Kilo Meters away from his residence. Under those circumstances, the petitioner appears to have submitted representations dated 07.01.2026, 22.01.2026 and 03.03.2026 to the respondents requesting them to transfer and appoint him in the Government Women's Arts College, Nilakottai, wherein a vacancy is stated to have been existing. As the said representations have not been considered by the respondents, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present writ petition complaining inaction on the part of the respondents in considering his representations.

3. Mr.N.Satheesh Kumar, learned Additional Government Pleader, appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submits that there is no provision for transfer of a Guest Lecturer and the petitioner was appointed in respect of a particular College, namely, V.S.Sivalingam Government Arts College, Pulankurichi, Sivagangai District.

4. However, this Court, having taken note of the fact that the appointment of the petitioner to the post of Guest Lecturer is pursuant to a common Notification issued by the first respondent for filling up of 881

vacancies available throughout the State, is of the considered view that the request of the petitioner can as well be considered by the first respondent for considering his request for transfer and appointment in the Government Women's Arts College, Nilakottai, or any other College nearer to his residence as per the preference given by him while applying to the post of Guest Lecturer.

5. In the said circumstances, without going into the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of directing the first respondent to consider the representations dated 07.01.2026 and 03.03.2026 submitted by the petitioner for his transfer and appointment in any of the Colleges as requested by him and pass appropriate orders thereon as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
