Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to strictly implement the government order passed by the Respondent No.1 in G.O.(Ms).No.291 the Department of Tamil Development and Culture, dated 19.12.1990 relating to usage of appropriate Tamil words in the name boards of the Government and private establishments in the State of Tamil Nadu within the time stipulated by this Court.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) The Writ Petition has been instituted to direct the respondents to strictly implement the Government Order passed by the first respondent G.O.(Ms). No.291, the Department of Tamil Development and Culture, dated 19.12.1990 relating to usage of appropriate Tamil words in the name boards of the Government and private establishments in the State of Tamil Nadu within the time stipulated by this Court.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the commercial establishments and institutions are not strictly following the Government Order by maintaining name boards in Tamil.
3. The statement made by the learned counsel for the petitioner may be true. But, it would be difficult for this Court or the Government to monitor the entire establishments regarding the name boards displayed. However, the Government authorities shall ensure that the name boards displayed are in accordance with the Government Orders and in the event of any violation, they are empowered to initiate appropriate actions. It is needless to state that the Government Order is to be implemented scrupulously.
4. With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
