Heard both sides.

2.The petitioner seeks grant of education loan. He obtained B.A.Sociology degree in November 2015. He passed in third class. He now wants to do law course. He approached a private college in Bangalore and he obtained admission also. Now the question is whether the respondent can be mandated to fund the petitioner's education. The learned standing counsel points out that as per banks retail rending policy No.49/2024 dated 30.03.2024, wherever student is getting admission in a college without undergoing any selection process, the education loan can be considered by adherence to the following cut of points:- S.No.

Categories Cut off 1.

General Merit Students 60% 2.

SC/ST Students 50% 3.

Girl Students 50% 2/4

The petitioner belongs to scheduled caste community. Even by adopting the relaxed norms, the petitioner has not scored the cut off marks. The petitioner has admittedly scored only 49.80 marks. As already pointed out, the petitioner obtained the B.A.Sociology degree way back in November 2015 in third class. The respondent bank cannot be compelled to disburse any education loan to the petitioner herein.
