O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 2nd respondent to provide adequate police protection for conducting the puravi Eduppu Festival held on 11.05.2025, 13.05.2025, 14.05.2025 and 15.05.2025 for Sr Kaaliyamman, Sri Muthalamman Sri Ayyanar and Sri Valladiyar Deities at Velayudhampatti, Punnappatti Village, Natham Taluk in Dindigul District based on the petitioner's representation dated 07.04.2025.

2.According to the petitioner, resident of the said village and also a member of the committee for the said temple. The villagers decided to conduct the said festival on 11.05.2025, 13.05.2025, 14.05.2025 and 15.05.2025 for the said temple. Therefore, the petitioner sent the representation dated 07.04.2025, but the same has not been considered. 2/6

Hence this petition.

3.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police would submit that the petitioner's representation is under consideration with the second respondent. In the mean time, the Tahsildar concerned has passed an order of status-quo in respect of the administration of the temple properties and the money lying in the Hundi.

4.At this juncture, the learned Counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner's representation is with regard to conduct of festival however, the order of status-quo is with regard to the administration of the temple properties and the money lying in the Hundi. Therefore, police protection may be granted to conduct the festival.

5.Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for in this petition, this Court, without even issuing notice to the private respondent, is inclined to pass order.

6.Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record. 7.Since the prayer of the petitioner is to consider his representation and grant police protection for conducting the said festival on 11.05.2025, 13.05.2025, 14.05.2025 and 15.05.2025 in the said temple and the representation is pending with the second respondent, he is directed to consider the petitioner's representation and grant police protection for conducting the said festival, without affecting the rights of the parties over the temple.
