ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for issuance of writ of mandamus directing the respondent to take action on the representation dated 14.12.2022 as per Section 82 of the Chit Funds Act, 1982. 1/4

2. Heard Mr.V.N.Arjun, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Siddharthan, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that one Selvi, her husband and her mother were running a chit company in the name of Selvi Chits. The petitioner also invested a sum of Rs.80,000/- in that chit company. However, the said amount has not been repaid to the petitioner. In this regard, she has given a representation to the respondent to cause inspection as per Section 82 of the Chit Funds Act. The respondent sought certain details like address of said Selvi. The same has also been given. However, no action has been taken so far. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court seeking direction.

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent, on instructions, would submit that communication has been issued to the petitioner to furnish further details vide letter dated 20.12.2022 in x.K.No. 11031,3/2022 and steps are yet to be taken.

In such view of the matter, considering the powers conferred to the respondent under Section 82 of the Chit Funds Act, 1982, the respondent is directed to make inspection and take action in this regard as per law. Such exercise shall be done within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
