For Petitioner : Mr.P.Ganapathi Subramanian For Respondents : Mr.M.Lingadurai, Government Advocate COMMON ORDER The prayer in these writ petitions is for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle the compensation due to the petitioners for the loss of crops covered under the Special Scheme announced by the Government of Tamil Nadu within a time frame.
2.The petitioners are agriculturists and having 7.61 and 3.30 hectares of punja land and cultivating various crops for the past 20 years. Due to heavy rain in January 2021, the petitioners had incurred a loss of Rs.8 Lakhs and Rs.3 Lakhs respectively. The State Government announced the relief of Rs.8,000/- per acre and directed the affected agriculturists to apply for it in the second week of January 2021. According to the petitioners, they are eligible for the relief amount of Rs.1,48,000/- and Rs.65,000/- respectively and they submitted applications to the Village Administrative Officer, Salaigramam, on 10.03.2021 requesting to 1/3
include their name in the list of beneficiaries. Thereafter, on 09.04.2021, the petitioners made individual representations in this regard and they were informed that the Central Government has granted only Rs.5 Crores and after election, Rs.7 Crores will be granted. It is the grievance of the petitioners that their names are not found place in the list of beneficiaries. Hence, this writ petition.
3.When the writ petitions were taken up for hearing, the learned counsel for the petitioners would state that it is suffice if the petitioners' individual representations dated 09.04.2021 are directed to be disposed of by the 1st respondent within a time frame, for which, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents has agreed.
4.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners as well as the learned Government Advocate for the respondents. 5.Though the petitioners have come out with the larger prayer, during the hearing, they would state that it would be suffice if the petitioners' individual representations dated 09.04.2021 are disposed of within a time frame. Accordingly, without adverting to the merits of the case, the 1st respondent is directed to consider and pass orders on the petitioners' individual representations dated 09.04.2021 in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.The writ petitions are disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
