The relief sought for by the petitioner is misconceived. Selection / appointment cannot be claimed as a matter of right. Mere participation in the selection process would not confer any right on the candidate to seek for selection / appointment. The very relief sought for in this writ petition is to direct the respondent to call the petitioner for certificate verification and appoint her as Lecturer in a Government Polytechnic College based on her representation, dated 08.02.2019. The writ petition was filed in the year 2019 and by this time, the selection process would have been completed. Hence, by efflux of time, the relief sought for in this writ petition lost it's relevance and the writ petition is therefore disposed of. No costs.
