ORDER
The Writ Petition is filed for a Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 23.03.2026 within the time frame stipulated by this Court.
2. Upon hearing the learned counsel for the petitioner, the grievance of the petitioner is that the petitioner's mother, namely, Antonyammal was also known by the alias name of Ayyammal. However, in the death certificate, the name is mentioned only as Antonyammal and the alias name of Ayyammal is not mentioned. On account of which, the petitioner is put to certain difficulties and hence, the representation is made.
3. When the matter came up for admission, the learned Additional Government Pleader taking notice on behalf of the respondents would submit that the first responder will consider the said representation in accordance with law and pass orders thereon.
4. The learned counsel would also submit that in respect of correction of such entries, the first respondent is empowered as per Rule 11 of the Tamil Nadu Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 2000. 2/5
5. In view thereof, this Writ Petition is disposed of on the following terms:
(i) The representation of the petitioner, dated 23.03.2026, shall taken up for consideration, due notice to the petitioner shall be issued and the same shall be considered and orders shall be passed;
(ii) If the claim of the petitioner that there is an alias name of the said Antonyammal also as Ayyammal is found to be correct, then an appropriate entry shall be made in the death certificate;
(iii) The aforesaid exercise shall be completed within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a web copy of the order.
No costs.
