O R D E R

Heard the learned counsel for the writ petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents 1 to 5. 2.The sixth respondent is none other than the grandson of the writ petitioner. The petitioner wants departmental action to be taken against the sixth respondent. The petitioner alleges that the sixth respondent is sending unwanted and offensive messages to the petitioner. It is further stated that the sixth respondent is also physically harassing the petitioner. 3.I am not inclined to direct the authorities to take departmental action against the sixth respondent. However, taking note of the fact that the petitioner is a senior citizen, the jurisdictional Inspector of Police / fifth respondent herein is directed to ensure the physical safety of the 2/4

petitioner and his wife. The statutory scheme sets out in the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and the Rules framed thereunder casts the said obligation on the jurisdictional police. 4.With this direction to the fifth respondent, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
