O R D E R

The petitioner seeks issuance of writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 29.07.2024 for issuance of patta.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

3. The petitioner claims to be in long and continuous possession of the subject property including paying taxes to the Panchayat.

4. The learned Special Government Pleader, on instructions, submit that the property is not Natham property, but Anadhinam lands and therefore, the Commissioner of Land Administration alone is competent to direct issuance of patta to the petitioner.

5. In the light of the above, this writ petition is disposed of in the following manner:

"The 2nd respondent is directed to conduct enquiry based on the petitioner's application and shall forward the report to the District Collector, who shall in turn, shall forward the same to the Commissioner of Land Administration and the copy of the said report shall also be furnished to the petitioner. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. Thereafter, it shall be open to the petitioner to approach the Commissioner of Land Administration and pursue the request for issuance of patta."

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
