In this writ petition, the petitioner seeks mandamus to direct the respondents to give adequate police protection while discharging their hereditary service to the Arulmigu Mariamman Temple, Inampuliyur, Srirangam Taluk, Trichy District during Chithirai festival as Vettiyan and beat drums. The Inspector of Police, Somarasampettai police station, who is the fourth respondent in this writ petition, has furnished the closure report through the Government Advocate, wherein, it is stated that the petitioner and https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2
W.M.P(MD)No.8119 of 2019 the rival group were called for enquiry in respect of the complaint given by the petitioner and the parties are agreed to settle their dispute through the Executive Officer, Arulmigu Mariamman Temple, Inampuliyur and the Tahsildar, Srirangam Taluk. Therefore, the petitioner has requested the fourth respondent police not to proceed his complaint further and he is withdrawing the same.
3. The third respondent, the Executive Officer of Arulmigu Mariamman Temple, Inampuliyur appeared before this Court through Video Conferencing and states that the hereditary Vettiyan of the temple have divided into two groups and creating Law and Order problem therefore, from the year 2018, the Chithirai festival of the said temple has not been conducted. The descendent of the Pitchandai Vagaiyara has always recognised as hereditary Vettiyan of the Temple and none of them are prevented from discharging their service as Vettiyan.
4. Recording the above said submission made by the learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the fourth respondent and the Executive Officer representing the third respondent, the writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
