ORDER
This writ petition has been filed to to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to permit the petitioner's villagers to perform their Chithirai Pongal festival and Vaikasi festival at Arulmigu Karpaga Vinayagar Temple, 2/6
situated in S.No.424/2, Muthuvanthidal Village, Thiruppuvanam Taluk and consequently direct the respondent 1 to 3 to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner's villagers temple festival of Arulmigu Karpaga Vinayagar temple, Muthuvanthidal Village, Thiruppuvanam Taluk, Sivagangai District on 11.05.2023.
2.On the side of the petitioner, it is stated that the petitioner proposed to conduct Chithirai Pongal festival and seeks permission for the same. It is further stated that last year when pongal festival was conducted, some persons created problem and thrown the pongal away and hence, he seeks protection for the same.
3.On the side of the prosecution, it is stated that there is dispute between two groups of people and four FIRs are pending in this regard. Even the petitioner herein, has preferred a complaint before the police. It is further stated that a request for a peace committee meeting by the Police is pending before the Tahsildar, Thiruppuvanam Taluk, 3/6
4.In view of the same, this Court directs the Tahsildar, Thiruppuvanam Taluk, Sivagangai District to conduct peace committee meeting, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and to decide on the request made by the petitioner, accordingly.
5.With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
