O R D E R

The writ petitioner has made an application to the first respondent to renew his passport in File No.MD1077387804125, dated 10.02.2025. 2.The said application is pending before the first respondent on the ground that there are four criminal cases pending against the petitioner. 3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the said criminal cases are quashed by this Court and now, there is no case pending against the petitioner.

4.The learned counsel appearing for the second respondent also affirmed the submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner. The learned counsel for the second respondent would further submit that even though the criminal cases are closed against the petitioner, history sheet is pending against him.

5. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that as per 748 of of the Tamil Nadu Police Standing Order, there is a periodical supervision made by the authorities to maintain the history sheet. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would further submit that in view of the closure of the case, there is no periodical supervision of the history sheet, as per the Tamil Nadu Police Standing Order. Therefore, there is no impediment to renew the petitioner's passport. 6.The learned counsel for the first respondent would submit that in view of the pending of the history sheet, the petitioner cannot renew his passport.

7.This Court considering the rival submissions made on either side and also perused the available records.

8.In view of the closure of the cases pending against the petitioner, there is no impediment to get the passport. Keeping history sheet without periodical supervision, as per the Police Standing Order, is not a bar to renew the petitioner's passport.

9.In view of the above, this Writ Petition is allowed and the first respondent is directed to renew the petitioner's passport in File No.MD1077387804125, dated 10.02.2025, if the petitioner satisfied with the other conditions, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
