Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 2 and 3 herein to take necessary action on the representation of the petitioner dated 26.08.2020 against the respondents 4 to 6 herein for committing breach of principles and ethics of journalism in the offending publication of news and news articles and the telecast made relating to the occurrence datedt 27.12.2019 concerned in Crime No.
10/2020 on the file of D3 Koodal Pudur Police Station, Madurai and the conduct of investigation in the Press, TV Channels and Social Media abusing the petitioner personally and in the discharge of his public duty and consequently forbear the respondents 4 to 6 herein from further indulging in publishing and telecasting the same defamatory news articles, report or interview of respondents 7 and 8 in any other news magazines, TV Channels and Social Media relating to the same occurrence dated 27.12.2019 concerned in Crime No.10 of 2020 on the file of D3 Koodal Pudur Police Station, Madurai for abusing the petitioner personally and his public office. ORDER
When the matter came up for hearing on 02.03.2022, there was no representation on behalf the petitioner and hence, the matter was directed to be posted on 04.03.2022. Accordingly, it is listed today i.e., 04.03.2022. Even today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner on record is not ready and some other learned counsel seeks time. It shows that the learned counsel for the petitioner is not interested in arguing the case. In such circumstances, this Court has no other option except to dismiss the Writ Petition for non-prosecution. 2.Accordingly, this Writ Petition is dismissed for nonprosecution. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
