*********** [Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.] This writ petition has been filed by a resident of Thalakudi Village, Lalgudi Taluk for forbearing the respondents from creating any new water source on the banks of Kollidam river at Thalakudi Village, Lalgudi Taluk, Trichy District, apart from
existing sources.
2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for respondents 1 to 3 as well as the learned counsel for the fourth respondent. 3.It appears that originally there was a proposal to install an additional 20 HP motor pump sets in the said village to draw additional water and to take the same to Perambalur District and that in view of the objections raised by Thalakudi Villagers, the said proposal was dropped.
4.According to the writ petitioner, the respondents are now attempting to install heavy duty motor pump sets. He would contend that their village is already facing acute water scarcity and therefore any such installation of additional bore wells or motor pump sets would adversely impact on the ground water level. 5.Though this Court would not be justified in interfering with such water projects, direction can certainly be issued to the respondents to take into account of the grievance projected by the writ petitioner on behalf of the Thalakudi Villagers. 6.He had already submitted a representation dated 24.03.2017, in this regard. The fourth respondent vide reply dated 06.04.2017, had also responded to in this regard. 7.Therefore, no further orders are necessary in this writ petition. Accordingly, this Writ petition is closed. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
