PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to alter the petitioner's date of birth in her service register as 09.10.1972 instead of 03.02.1971 by considering the petitioner's application dated 06.02.2017.

ORDER

Complaining that her request for correction of date of birth though made within a prescribed time of five years, has not been considered by the authorities, the petitioner seeks a mandamus for disposal of her application dated 06.02.2017. 2.I have heard Mr.J.David Ganesan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.E.P.Venkateswar, learned counsel representing Mrs.S.Srimathy, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the proposal has been forwarded to the fourth respondent by the fifth respondent. Therefore, considering the request of the petitioner, the fourth respondent is directed to forward the proposal to the second respondent within a period of two weeks from today. On receipt of the proposal, the second respondent shall consider the same and pass appropriate orders within a period of four weeks therefrom.

4.It is made clear that the petitioner having made an application within a period of five years is entitled to correction, if the authorities are satisfied that there was a genuine mistake in the date of birth given at the time of school admission.
