O R D E R

This petition has been filed, seeking to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to give police protection for the smooth functioning of the TASMAC shop No.3311 situated at Door No. 328/1A Plot No.34 Seeval Saragu Village Sempatti Dindigul District without fear of any harm and hindrance.

2. It is seen that the petitioner is a licensee of a TASMAC Shop and that he is being prevented by local people from opening the shop and therefore, he has filed the present petition seeking Police protection.

The respondent Police have sent a report dated 15.05.2017 to the District Collector, wherein it is stated that the local people are agitated over the issue and are holding public demonstrations and Dharna for closing down the TASMAC shop. The fact remains that throughout Tamil Nadu, people are agitated with the opening of TASMAC shops and there is a popular movement for closing down TASMAC shops, especially by Women folk. When the situation is charged, it may not be appropriate for this Court to give a direction for Police protection as prayed for by the petitioner, as that would only further aggravate the whole issue.

4. In view of the above, the prayer of the petitioner cannot be acceded to. Hence, this petition is closed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. Sd/- Assistant Registrar(Records) / True Copy / Sub Assistant Registrar(C.S.) To:
