This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 12.06.2017 and permit the petitioner to conduct demonstration on 25.06.2017 at about 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. at Jawahar Ground, Palayamkottai Market, Tirunelveli District or any other place at Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli District to be fixed by the respondent.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondent.

3. Today, Mr.S.Sivaraman Natarajan, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Palayamkottai Police Station, is present before this Court.

4. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that there were clashes between the members of Kallar community and Mooppanar community, in connection with which, FIRs have been registered against the members of both the community and the situation is tensed. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

5. Under such circumstances, though in a democracy, an

organisation has got a right to peacefully demonstrate in support of any issue. Here, it is seen that the petitioner belongs to Kallar community and if permission is granted, it will only further escalate the communal tension. Under such circumstances, in the considered opinion of this Court, this is not a fit case to grant the prayer as prayed for by this petitioner. Accordingly, this petition is dismissed.
