O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 29.05.2017 and permit the petitioner to conduct demonstration on 17.06.2017 at about 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at near Railway Station, Thanjavur District.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondent.

3. Today, Mr., Special Sub Inspector of Police, Palayamkottai Police Station, is present before this Court.

4. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that there were clashes between the members of Kallar community and Mooppanar community, in connection with which, six FIRs have been registered by Melattur Police Station in Crime Nos.43/2017, 44/2017, 45/2017, 46/2017, 47/2017 and 48/2017 on 10.05.2017 against the members of both the community and the situation is tensed.

5. Under such circumstances, though in a democracy, an organisation has got a right to peacefully demonstrate in support of any issue. Here, it is seen that the petitioner belongs to Kallar https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

community and if permission is granted, it will only further escalate the communal tension. Under such circumstances, in the considered opinion of this Court, this is not a fit case to grant the prayer as prayed for by this petitioner. Accordingly, this petition is dismissed.
