PRAYER : Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to promote the petitioner from the Head Constable to Special Sub Inspector of Police as per the G.O.Ms.No.15 of Home (Police-V) Department, dated 07.01.2010, based on the petitioner's representation, dated 16.02.2017 within a time frame fixed by this Court.

ORDER

This Writ petition has been filed, for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to promote the petitioner from the Head Constable to Special Sub Inspector of Police as per the G.O.Ms.No.15 of Home (Police-V) Department, dated 07.01.2010, based on petitioner's representation, dated 16.02.2017.

2.Though the Writ Petition is filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to give positive direction to the respondents, the learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner would be satisfied, if a direction is issued to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation and pass appropriate order within the time stipulated by this Court. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

3.Having regard to the limited scope of the prayer that is now sought before this Court by the learned counsel for the petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's case, this Court is inclined to pass the following direction:

3.a. The respondents are directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 16.02.2017 and pass order on the same on merits and in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
