This petition has been filed, seeking to direct the respondents to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner, her husband and family members of her husband.
2. The case of the petitioner is that she is aged about 25 years and is said to be belonging to Hindu Vadugar community. According to her, she was in love with one Stallin, who belongs to Hindu Scheduled Caste Community and her parents objected to her marriage. However, on 23.01.2017, she left her parental home and joined Stallin and she is said to have got married to him. 3. The Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Lata Singh vs State of U.P. & Another, reported in (2006) 5 SCC 475, has stated that the State should encourage the inter religious and inter caste marriages in order to break the caste discriminations.
4. In the light of the above, this Court directs the petitioner and Stallin to appear before the Superintendent of Police, Ramanathapuram District and give a written complaint and on such complaint being given, the same shall be enquired into and the petitioner and her husband be given sufficient protection so that no harm befalls them.
5. With the above direction, this Writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
