ORDER

I have heard Miss.S.Keerthana, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mrs.S.Jeyapriya, Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

2. The petitioner has sought for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to issue patta to the petitioner in respect of Natham lands comprised in S.No.37/2. The petitioner has made a representation on 18.03.2025 and seeks for issuance of patta based on long, continuous and uninterrupted possession of the subject lands. The second respondent, who is the competent authority to pass orders on the petitioner's application, shall conduct due enquiry and ascertain the entitlement of the petitioner for patta.

The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that since admittedly petitioner has put up a construction and also seeks to repair / reconstruct the damaged building, the competent authority is the District Revenue Officer, Madurai, who has not been arrayed as a party to the writ petition. 2/5

In view of the above, the petitioner shall make a fresh representation to the District Revenue Officer, Madurai enclosing the copies of the earlier representation made to the second and third respondents on 18.03.2025, enclosing all other relevant documents in support of the contentions regarding long, continuous and uninterrupted possession of the subject lands, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On such application being made by the petitioner within two weeks, the District Revenue Officer, Madurai shall conduct an enquiry and pass orders, within a period of twelve weeks, thereafter.

5. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
