O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by S.S.SUNDAR.J.,) This Writ Petition is filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant permission to conduct 'Sri Alaganatchiamman Temple Thiruvizha' and Manjuvirattu to be held on 06.07.2022 at Nellukundupatti, Vanjinagaram Village, Karunkalakudi Post, Melur Taluk, Madurai District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 20.06.2022.

2. The petitioner has given a representation on 20.06.2022 to the District Collector and the respondents herein, to grant permission to conduct Manjuviratu in connection with the temple festival in the village.

3. It is brought to the notice of this Court that the Government had issued a G.O., prohibiting the programmes viz., Manjuviratu or Jalli Kattu beyond May of every year. Based on the said G.O., the District Collector, Madurai, has already rejected several similar representations and this Court has upheld the order of District Collector, on the basis that the Collector cannot give permission to conduct Manjuviratu programme beyond May of every year, as per the direction of Government.

4. In these circumstances, this Court is unable to give positive direction to the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner. Hence, this Writ Petition is dismissed. However, it is open to the petitioner to approach the Government, if they want exemption for special reasons. No costs.
