PRAYER:

Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus,directing the respondent authorities 1 to 9 to forthwith prevent sand theft by the respondents 10 to 12 in Anaipatti, Vilampatti, Muthulingapuram in Dindigul District as well as Kuruvithurai, Karuppatti upto Minor Thottam in Madurai District, seize the JCP, lorries, and initiate all necessary actions in accordance with law including recovery of money for stolen sand, as per the representation of the petitioner dated 11.04.2017 marked to the respondent authorities, within a reasonable time as may be fixed by this Court.

O R D E R

************ [Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed in Public Interest for preventing commission of theft of river sand. The Writ Petitioner has specifically named certain individuals as indulging in the said acts of sand theft. He had also given a representation dated 11.04.2017, to the respondents 1 to 9. He had also given a reminder on 02.06.2017.

2.We therefore direct the first and second respondents herein to enquire into the allegations made by the Writ Petitioner vide the said representations and take appropriate action in accordance with law. It shall be the duty of the official respondents herein, to ensure that there is no commission of sand theft. The first and second respondents are expected to pass appropriate orders on the Writ Petitioner's representation dated 11.04.2017, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of the order copy in this writ petition. 3.With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
