O R D E R

The prayer sought for in this writ petition is to direct the 1st respondent to grant the Government Aid (Old Age Pension) to the petitioner meant for the category of handicapped/unmarried women crossing 50 years of age.

2.According to the petitioner, she is handicapped and her mother is too old. The petitioner further claims that she has been neglected by her blood relatives as well as the society and she has been facing severe financial crises for her livelihood. It is further submitted that though, she applied for grant of aid in the year 2015, the amount was not sanctioned to her and therefore, she sent a representation, dated 10.04.2017 to the 1st respondent and subsequently, on 13.06.2017 to the 2nd respondent. 3.Mr.G.Muthukanan, learned Government Advocate for the respondents 1 and 2, on instructions, would submit that the application of the petitioner was considered and as per the recommendation of the Revenue Inspector and Tasildhar, District Collector has sanctioned the grant, but subsequently, it was closed for the reason that three cheques sent to the petitioner have been returned. It is further submitted that the representation of the petitioner would be considered by the first respondent, provided she furnishes all the documents to prove that she is permanently residing at Vadugai Village, Illayangudi Taluk, Sivagangai District.

4.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate for the respondents and perused the materials available on record.

5.Considering the above facts of this case and the submissions made on either side, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 10.04.2017 and pass appropriate orders, purely on merits and in accordance with law, after affording opportunity of hearing to the parties concerned, as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of the order copy. No costs.
