2. The petitioner, by way of this Public Interest Litigation, seeks for a direction upon the respondents to grant permission for conduct of Jallikattu, which is scheduled to be held on 06.08.2017 at Pothumbu Village, Madurai North Taluk, Madurai District, in connection with a temple festival. The representation given by the petitioner has not been considered by the respondents till date. It is not known as to why the representation has not been considered, especially, when the Government has taken a policy decision to conduct Jallikattu in the State of Tamil Nadu. If the respondents have acted promptly on the representation of the petitioner, it would have avoided the filing of this Writ Petition, which would have undoubtedly saved sufficient judicial time.

If, for any valid reason, the respondents want to reject the representation of the petitioner, then, they are required to pass orders on the same. Hence, we direct the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 12.06.2017 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

3. The Writ Petition is disposed of on the above terms. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. Sd/- Assistant Registrar(C.O) /True Copy/ Sub-Assistant Registrar To 1.The District Collector, Madurai District, Madurai.
