Heard the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for respondents 1 and 2 and the learned Government Advocate appearing for respondents 3 and 4.

2. Issuance of notice to the private respondents is dispensed with.

3. The petitioner has been called upon to attend the peace committee meeting. I have consistently held that conducting of such meetings is without statutory provision. It is only a request to the 2/4

3 W.P.(MD)NO.12328 OF 2024 petitioner to participate in the peace committee meeting on the relevant date. If the petitioner refuses to appear, no adverse consequence will follow. Even if some decision is taken and the petitioner is in breach of the same, the petitioner cannot be visited with any negative consequence. Such efforts are being taken by the authorities as a goodwill measure. It will be fair if the petitioner extends his cooperation. I will not fault the petitioner, if he refuses to cooperate. It is left to the conscience of the petitioner. This writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
