Prayer : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 to provide adequate protection to the petitioner and his community members for offering prayers in the Dharma Muneeswarar Temple at Pallithammam Village, Kaalaiyarkovil Taluk, Sivagangai District on 22.05.2023. O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to provide adequate protection to the petitioner and his community members for offering prayers in the Dharma Muneeswarar Temple at Pallithammam Village, Kaalaiyarkovil Taluk, Sivagangai District on 22.05.2023.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that in the petitioner's village a temple namely Dharma Muneeswarar is situated and it is out tutelary deity which belongs to the whole Hindu community of the village and they have celebrated customary festivals in the temple in a grand manner in every year. He would further submit that the private respondents 4 to 10 are deciding to conduct festival in that temple on 22.05.2023 by ignoring the 2/5

petitioner's group and they have also discriminated for worshipping god is an act of condembable and intolerable.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the official respondents would submit that with regard to the temple dispute between the parties, peace committee meeting is fixed on 18.05.2023 by the Thasildar, Kaalaiyarkovil, Sivagangai. He would further submit that both parties are agreed to attend peace committee meeting and resolve the issue.

Recording the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner and also the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the official respondents, the Thasildar, Kaalaiyarkovil, is directed to conduct peace committee meeting on or before 22.05.2023. The parties are directed to abide by the outcome of the peace committee meeting.
