Respondent PRAYER : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pay the amount of Rs.5,24,485/-(Rupees Five Lakhs Twenty Four Thousand Four Hundred and Eighty Five) spent by the petitioner towards Medical treatment at V.S.Hospital, Chennai under reimbursement scheme of Government of Tamilnadu, New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014 for pensioners as directed by the DLCE, Ramanathapuram headed by the District Collector and as directed by the directions through letter dated 31.12.2018 with interest at the rate of 12 % for delay in payment.

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pay the amount of Rs.5,24,485/- spent by the petitioner towards Medical treatment at V.S.Hospital, Chennai under reimbursement Scheme of Government of Tamilnadu, New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014, for pensioners as directed by the DLCE, Ramanathapuram headed by the District Collector and as per the directions through letter dated 31.12.2018 ,with interest at the rate of 12 % for delay in payment.
2. The case of the petitioner is that she was appointed as an Assistant Surgeon in Tamil Nadu Health Services on 27.11.1976. After retirement, she was suffered with Pre Op Chemo /Rt and admitted in V.S.Hospital, Egmore, Chennai, taken treatment and spent a sum of Rs. 5,24,485/-. The petitioner is a retired person covered by New Health
Insurance Scheme for Pensioners including spouse/family pension announced by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Hence, the petitioner has made a representation to the respondent on 31.03.2016, seeking to provide assistance. But, till date the same was not considered. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition with the above said prayer.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that this Court may issue a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 31.03.2016 and pass appropriate orders, in terms of the Medical Scheme.
4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel appearing for the respondent.
5. Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 31.03.2016 and pass appropriate orders, in terms of the Medical Scheme, within a
period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after providing opportunity to the petitioner.
6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
