O R D E R
The petitioner has come forward with this Writ Petition for issuance of a Mandamus seeking a direction to the respondent to grant permission and protection for cultural programme, namely, "Islamic Musical Archastra" scheduled to be held on 09.07.2017 at night at 8.00 p.m in connection with "Kanthuri" Festival at Mohideen Jumma Masjid, in Siruthondanallur, Srivaigundam Taluk, Thoothukudi District.

The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the villagers jointly decided to conduct "Islamic Musical Archastra" programme on 09.07.2017 in connection with "Kanthuri" festival of "Mohideen Jumma Masjid" in Siruthondanallur, Srivaigundam Taluk, Thoothukudi District. He would further submit that in this connection, a representation was given to the respondent on 03.07.2017, with a request to grant permission and protection to conduct the programme on the above said date. However, the respondent police has not yet considered the said representation and hence, the petitioner is before this Court with this Writ Petition.
3. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent on instructions submitted that he has not received any adverse remarks against the petitioner in conducting "Islamic https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
Musical Archastra" on 09.07.2017 and the petitioner may be permitted to conduct the above programme, subject to reasonable restrictions.
4. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is inclined to pass the following directions:- i) The Inspector of Police, Eral Police Station, Thoothukudi District, is directed to grant permission and to provide police protection for conducting the cultural programme, namely, "Islamic Musical Archastra", in connection with "Kanthuri" festival of "Mohideen Jumma Masjid" in Siruthondanallur, Srivaigundam Taluk, Thoothukudi District, scheduled to be held on 09.07.2017, between 6.30 p.m., and 11.00 p.m., subject to any reasonable restrictions which are necessary to protect the public peace and law and order and to prevent any untoward incidents.
ii) The petitioner is directed to complete the above programme before 11.00 p.m.
6. With the above direction, the Writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
