*********** [Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.] The writ petitioner alleges that cattle slaughter is illegally performed in the commercial complex building at Annasalai, belonging to Kodaikanal Municipality.
2.He would point out that the place for slaughtering had been allotted in the Weekly Market, P.T.Road, Kodaikanal in the year 2012 itself. But the slaughtering house is yet to be shifted from Market Shops Complex, Annasalai, Kodaikanal to the Weekly Market, P.T.Road, Kodaikanal or any other remote place. He gave a representation in this regard, but no action was taken. Hence, this Writ petition has been filed.
3.The Commissioner, Kodaikanal has filed a counter affidavit stating that on account of objection from the public, the proposal to construct slaughter house in the Weekly Market, P.T.Road, Kodaikanal could not proceed.
4.The Municipal Commissioner would seek six months time to locate a slaughter house. He has also stated that mutton and beef sellers are only allowed to sell mutton and beef in Anna Salai and that slaughter of animals will not be allowed at Anna Salai market. This submission is placed on record. The fifth respondent is given six months time to make appropriate alternative arrangements. 5.The Writ Petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs.
