*********** [Order of the Court was made by K.K.SASIDHARAN, J.] The petitioner seeks a Writ of Mandamus, directing the State of Tamil Nadu to set up a Police Station and Police Check Post in Cholapuram Town Panchayat, Kumbakonam Taluk, Thanjavur District, pursuant to his representation dated 05.06.2017. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

2. The petitioner is stated to be a practising Lawyer at Kumbakonam. It is the grievance of the petitioner that in spite of

representation given by the villagers, no action was taken for constitution of Police Station and Police Check Post in Cholapuram Town Panchayat, Kumbakonam Taluk, Thanjavur District.

3. The affidavit filed in support of the Writ Petition does not contain any particulars with regard to the population of the panchayat. Similarly, there is no indication with regard to the distance between the Panchayat and the present Police Station. We, therefore, do not see any reason to issue a Writ of Mandamus, as prayed for by the petitioner. It is open to the petitioner to approach the Government along with required particulars so as to enable the authorities to consider his request.

4. The Writ Petition is disposed of with the above observation. No costs.
