Prayer:- Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay 6% interest amount of Rs.25,748/- for the belated payment of Service Surrender Leave salary amount of Rs.99,512/- payable to the petitioner from the date of his retirement i.e., on 31.05.2018 to till the date of actual payment made to him i.e., 22.09.2022 and all other attendant benefits to him within the stipulated period.

The petitioner, who was retired from service on 31.05.2018 has filed this Writ Petition seeking direction against the respondents to pay 6% interest amount of Rs.25,748/- for the belated payment of Service Surrender Leave salary amount of Rs.99,512/- payable to the petitioner from the date of his retirement i.e., on 31.05.2018 to till the date of actual payment made to him i.e., 22.09.2022 and all other attendant benefits.
2. Heard Mr.A.K.Thangavelu, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.RamachandraPradeep, learned Standing counsel for the respondents.
3. By consent of both parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. 2/5
4. As per the submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner, the petitioner's Surrender Leave salary benefits have been settled only on 22.09.2022 i.e., after the delay of more than four years.
5. Since the petitioner is in no way responsible for the delay caused in disbursing the said benefits and other attendant benefits, the respondent Corporation shall pay the interest to the petitioner for the period of delay between 31.05.2018 and 22.09.2022 at the rate of 6% per annum and disburse the same within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
