Heard Mr. J. Jeevan, learned counsel for the petitioner; Mr. S. Kameswaran, learned Government Advocate, who accepts notice on behalf of respondents 1 and 2; and Mr. T. Amjad Khan, learned Government Advocate, who accepts notice on behalf of the third respondent.
2.The petitioner, who had been entrusted with the work under the "Namakku Name Thittam" scheme, is before this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to release the balance amount of Rs.10,89,877/- along with interest at the rate of 12% per annum.
3.The petitioner claims to have completed the work satisfactorily and submitted a representation dated 04.02.2026 seeking release of the 2/5
amount due under the contract. The grievance of the petitioner is that the said amount has not been released as on date. 4.Mr. T. Amjad Khan, learned Government Advocate appearing for the third respondent, on instructions, submitted that the third respondent has sanctioned a sum of Rs.9,00,000/- towards 90% of the completed work and that the said amount would be credited to the account of the petitioner within three weeks from today. He further submitted that the balance 10% of the contract amount would be paid only upon receipt of the completion and utilization certificate. The said submission is taken on record.
5.In view of the above, the writ petition stands disposed of with a direction to the third respondent to release the sum of Rs.9,00,000/- in favour of the petitioner within a period of three weeks from today and to release the balance 10% of the contract amount within two weeks from the date of receipt of the completion and utilization certificate. 3/5
6.There shall be no order as to costs.
