(Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.,) This writ petition has been filed by a member of the Adi Thavasu Committee of Arulmighu Sankaranarayana Swamy Thirukovil, Sankarankovil, Thirunelveli District for directing the second respondent to grant permission to conduct "Light Music" and "Patti Mandram" with the assistance of sound service till the completion of Veethi Ula of Arulmighu Sankaranarayana Swamy from 27.07.2017 to 07.08.2017.

2.The petitioner had already submitted a representation dated 10 July 2017. But, till date, the second respondent had not passed any orders. Apprehending that there will be a last minute rejection or interference during the course of conduct of the celebrations, this writ petition has been filed. 3.We may at the very outset note that the celebrations pertain to Arulmighu Sankaranarayana Swamy Temple, Sankarankovil. It is a very ancient and renowned Temple. It is under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. It is beyond dispute that celebrations in such Temples are customary in nature. It is not as if the writ petitioner is seeking to introduce some new practice. What is being traditionally held and conducted has to be necessarily followed.
Therefore, we have no hesitation in allowing the writ petition as prayed for. 4.The second respondent is directed to grant permission to conduct the "Light Music" and "Patti Mandram" with the assistance of sound service till the completion of Veethi Ula of Arulmighu Sankaranarayana Swamy from 27.07.2017 to 07.08.2017 as sought for by the writ petitioner's representation dated 10.07.2017. 5.This writ petition is allowed. No costs.
