PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the Respondents 1, 3 and 4 to take necessary action on the basis of the petitioner's representation, dated 19.05.2023 with regard to give police protection to celebrating the temple festival in the petitioner's Village temple namely, Sri Mariamman Temple situated at Sampatti Village, Annampatti Post, Manapparai Taluk, Trichy District on 26.05.2023 to 30.05.2023.

O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by M.S.RAMESH, J.] By consent of both the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal.

2.In view of the rival claims between the petitioner and the Respondents 5 to 8 to celebrate the Temple festival of Sri Mariamman Temple situated at Sampatti Village, Annampatti Post, Manapparai Taluk, Trichy District, the petitioner's request for police protection came to be

kept pending, which necessitated the petitioner to file the present Writ Petition.

3.Pending consideration of the representation, a Peace Committee Meeting was convened by the Tahsildar, Manapparai Taluk and as per the Minutes of the Tahsildar, Manapparai dated 22.05.2023, in the Peace Committee Meeting, both the petitioner as well as the Respondents 5 to 8 have mutually agreed that both the parties will celebrate the Temple festival together without any dispute. It was also agreed therein that there shall not be any goat sacrifice and the dispute with regard to such goat sacrifice would be resolved before the Joint Commissioner of HR & CE Department.

4.The prayer in the present Writ Petition is only for the purpose of granting police protection for the celebration of the Temple festival and nothing more.

5.In view of the limited prayer sought for and by taking into account the consensus arrived at by the petitioner and the rival parties

before the Tahsildar, Manapparai, on 22.05.2023, there shall be a direction to the first respondent to ensure that no law and order situation arises while the Temple festival is celebrated between 26.05.2023 to 30.05.2023 at Sri Mariamman Temple situated at Sampatti Village, Annampatti Post, Manapparai Taluk, Trichy District. 6.The Writ Petition stands disposed of accordingly. No order as to costs.
