O R D E R
[Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.] The writ petitioner has sought formation of special team comprising competent officers to monitor the status of migrant employees employed in the various textile mills situated in Dindigul District.
2. He has highlighted the working condition and other related issues of the women workers in particular. This Court directed the respondents to undertake a comprehensive survey and submit a report. Accordingly, the District Social Welfare Officer, Dindigul conducted an inspection of 10 textile mills in Vedeasandur Taluk on 21.08.2017 and 22.08.2017 and has submitted an exhaustive report. The report refers to the wages paid to the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
employees. It was also assessed the work conditions with reference to a number of parameters such as availability of toilets, Water, Creche, Medical Aid, Hostal facilities etc.
3. The details have been collected in respect of each of those aspects. If the unit in question is found warranting in particular aspect, the same has also been shown. The Inspector of Police, Vedasandur Police Station, Dindigul District has also been involved in this excercise. We direct the first respondent to take note of the said report dated 05.09.2017 filed in this proceedings and ensure that appropriate follow up action is taken. It is the duty of the respondent to ensure that the migrant workers working in the various textiles mills in Dindigul District are having appropriate working conditions. It is also the duty of the respondents to ensure their over all safety.
4. With this direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
