PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to complete the construction works of "58 Girama Pasana Kalvai Thittam" which provides irrigation facilities to more than 58 villages in and surrounding areas of Usilampatty Taluk, Madurai District.

O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.] This writ petition has been filed in public interest. The writ petitioner is aggrieved by the non-completion of the construction works of "58 Girama Pasana Kalvai Thittam". 2.This project was conceived several years ago. This envisaged providing irrigation facilities to 58 villages in and around Usilampatti Taluk.

3.This Court also heard Mr.C.Jeyaraj, President of Usilampatti Taluk 58 Grama Paasana Vivasayigal Sangam in person, representing the members of the Sangam, pursuant to allowing the impleading petition.

4.The District Collector has filed a report stating that the pending works will be completed on or before 31.03.2018. This undertaking filed by the District Collector is placed on record. Accordingly, a direction is issued to the respondent authority to complete all the pending works under the said "58 Girama Pasana Kalvai Thittam" on or before 31.03.2018.
