ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to pay a sum of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) and 8 grams of gold as marriage assistance to his daughter - S.Shyni Sundar.

2. Mr.A.Muthukaruppan, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents 1 to 3 and Mr.V.Muruganantham, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the fourth respondent.

3. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

4. The case of the petitioner is that his daughter's marriage was solemnized on 18.11.2015 and he submitted an application for marriage assistance for his daughter on 16.11.2015, however, it was refused by the fourth respondent, which got returned by the postal authorities. Thereafter, he made a similar petition to the District Collector on 23.11.2015, followed by a reminder dated 14.12.2015 through registered post.

Despite several representations were made seeking marriage assistance, no action has been taken so far. Hence, this writ petition is filed.

5. Heard the petitioner who appeared in person, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 3 as well as the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the fourth respondent and perused the materials available on record.

Considering the limited scope of the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the petitioner's claim, directs the second respondent - District Social Welfare Officer, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, to consider the claim of the petitioner sympathetically based on his representation dated 05.12.2016, seeking marriage assistance for his daughter under a Welfare Scheme introduced by the Government of Tamil Nadu and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording due opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is also directed to submit a copy of the representation dated 05.12.2016 to the second respondent along with all necessary documents in support of his claim.

7. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of as above. No costs.
