ORDER
This Writ Petition is filed seeking Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant permission and provide adequate police protection for conducting the annual temple festival (Kodai Vizha) of Arulmighu Sri Kantharaiamman Temple at K.Shanugapuram, Ottapidaram Taluk, Thoothukudi District, scheduled to be held from 12.05.2026 to 15.05.2026, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 18.04.2026.
2. However, the learned Government Advocate submitted that they received the representation only on 20.04.2026, through post.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner had already given a representation in person on 03.04.2026. 2/4
4. Heard either sides and carefully perused the materials available on record.
5. The petitioner is directed to make a fresh representation to the third respondent police and on receipt of the same, the third respondent police is directed to verify as to the presence of any rival parties and in the absence of the same, grant necessary permission and protection for conduct of temple festival and if found the presence of rival parties, put the rival parties on notice and thereafter take necessary steps, facilitating the petitioner from conducting the temple festival. The said exercise should be concluded within 30.04.2026.
6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is dispose of. No costs.
