For petitioner : Mr.R.Murugan For Respondents : Mr.S.Ravi Additional Public Prosecutor O R D E R The petitioner has filed this petition seeking direction to the second respondent to expedite the investigation under the direct supervision of the first respondent or through some other higher level Police Officials and to file the final report in connection with a case in Crime No.2 of 2024 dated 20.02.2024 on the file of the second respondent police.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner is working a Foreman in the Office of the Assistant Engineer, TANGEDCO, Vilangudi, Madurai. The defacto complainant wanted to obtain temporary electricity service connection and remitted a sum of Rs.15,682/- towards deposit. The petitioner is said to have demanded Rs.17,000/- as a bribe amount from the defacto complainant. Thereafter, the defacto complainant lodged a complaint to the respondents and the case was registered in Crime No.2 of 2024 for the offences under Sections 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as Amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. 2/5

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent and he has been falsely implicated in this case and the petitioner never demanded any corruption from the defacto complainant and on assumption, the defacto complainant lodged the complaint.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submitted that investigation completed and awaiting for sanction report from the concerned deparment.

5. In view of the above submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the respondents are directed to file a final report before the concerned Court within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above directions, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
