ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to grant police protection for conducting festival from 06.05.2025 to 08.05.2025 in 'Arulmighu Santhanamariyamman Kovil' situated at Konapatti Village, Theni District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 07.04.2025.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is the President of Konapatti Village and the villagers decided to conduct 'Chithirai festival' from 06.05.2025 to 08.05.2025, to that effect, they approached the second respondent through representation dated 07.04.2025 for grant of police protection, but the second respondent has not considered the same. Hence, the present writ petition.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 1 and 2, on instructions, submits that the petitioner sent a representation on 07.04.2025 for conducting festival from 06.05.2025 to 08.05.2025 in 'Arulmighu Santhanamariyamman Kovil' situated at Konapatti Village, Theni District and the same is pending for enquiry. 2/5
Two rival groups claimed right over the subject temple and thereby, there is a dispute in respect of conducting the festival. However, for peaceful worship for the public, they will provide adequate police protection by considering the representation of the petitioner, after conducting enquiry.

Considering the prayer sought for in this petition, this Court, without issuing notice to the third respondent and recording the submission of the second respondent, directs the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 07.04.2025 and grant police protection for conducting the aforesaid temple festival and peaceful worship for the public.
5. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of. It is made clear that this Court has not decided any rights of the parties and only granted police protection for peaceful worship for the public.
